What I Will Miss About California
Sarah and I are very sad about leaving California. We will miss:
seeing the doe and her twin fawns graze on Pepperdine's expansive lawn...the weather...dinner on the beach at Gladstone's, Malibu Seafood, Duke's, Goeffrey's and The Chart House...seeing dolphins from the beach...watching gray whales in Santa Monica Bay on their migration...our annual trip to the Piedras Blancas elephant seal colony in San Simeon...Saturday mornings at Noah's and Jamba Juice...Jerry's Famous Deli at any time of the day or night...Slippery Shrimp at Yang Chow...Pacific Coast Highway...Malibu Canyon...the wild parrot flock in Malibu (yes, there are parrots in Malibu)...being close to the wine country...the view from nearly anywhere on Pepperdine's campus...Leo Carillo Beach...good sushi...the Santa Monica farmers market...the ocean mist in late afternoon...Trader Joe's grocery store...and I'm sure many, many other things...

Yes--but think what you'll be gaining! Country Music's Fan fair filled with smelly, hillbillies all wearing polyester, trips to Kroger, local TV news where it seems everyone in Tennessee lives in a trailor house and is missing 9 teeth, the Bible belt where we love to be right--and it shows, Cracker Barrell, Green Hills Grille, the Cool Springs Mall (or as said out here- "Coo(no L)Sprangs Mawl"), and dear crossing Granny White Pike, along with Otters and Beavers.
Not to mention, fun with the Thomas fam, the Bridgesmiths, and your mom and dad! Don't worry about seafood. We'll take you on down to the Red Lobster in Coo Sprangs for a little surf-n-turf!
Be sure to have Brandon take you on a tour of the really nice trailers in Williamson County - where we not only have double-wides, but also two-story mobile homes! Yep, you can't hide money.....
I'll see your Cracker Barrel, and raise you In-N-Out Burger, vacuous surfer dudes, and more smog than you can shake a bottle of Sonoma Valley Merlot at!
